Bedtime facetime
chase · Wed, Jan 13, 2016Milo knows her bedtime routine so well by now that almost immediately after we dim the lights and start singing, she gets sleepy. We know because she also gets fussy.
Often there’s nothing we can do about this except rush through the routine, since she’s so accustomed to us by bedtime that our silly faces and our cooing are no comfort. But tonight I hadn’t had time to play with her much before bed, so I was still a novelty. So as I rubbed her feet with lavender oil, occasionally I would lean in to put my face inches away from hers. Each time I did, she stopped fussing, stared straight up at me, smiled, and reached for my hair or my nose or my mouth.
And then I pulled away. And then she started fussing again.
And then I came back. And she was enraptured again.
Away, back, away, back.
Magic.
