Nodding off

Just after a feeding tonight, I took Milo from Misty and held her. She was facing away from me, my hand flat atop her chest, my chin resting gently on her head. I was watching the TV or Christmas lights or something, and what she would usually do is stare for a while and be perfectly still, and then lose interest and writhe and slouch more and more until she was flat on my lap.

Not so tonight. I felt her head sliding slowly down and away from my chin, and I felt her tiny chin come to rest on my index finger. Loose and unswaddled, she was so tired that she was nodding off in my lap! And just like a real adult trying to take notes in class, her head eventually dipped so far that it jolted her awake… for a moment, before it slowly began to droop again.
